SEMINAR – APRIL 9, 2025

"Transizione Verde in Fonderia"

The free seminar “Transizione Verde in Fonderia”, promoted by Veneto Green Cluster and SINFONET, was hosted on April 9 at the Complesso Didattico Universitario, Vicenza.

This event offered a valuable opportunity for dialogue among companies, experts, and students on key topics such as circular economy, innovation, and sustainability in industrial foundry processes.

The seminar explored the evolution of the sector, guided by concrete strategies and forward-looking visions, with a strong emphasis on production efficiency, waste reduction, and the opportunities offered by the Veneto Region’s S3.

The seminar focused on key Industry 4.0 development pathways related to sustainability, including:

  • Innovative processes for the treatment and reuse of industrial waste
  • Green solutions for supply chains and energy efficiency
  • Technologies aimed at reducing the environmental impact of production cycles
  • Recovery of critical raw materials and industrial waste valorisation
  • Collaboration between companies, universities, and research centers to accelerate the ecological transition

The seminar featured industry experts who delivered insightful and project-aligned presentations, rich in content and innovation, including:

  • Fabio Ferri (EIT RawMaterials), who highlighted the strategic role of critical raw materials for Europe and the importance of innovative projects such as battery recycling and rare earth recovery.
  • Fabio Zanardi (Zanardi Fonderie), who shared the virtuous journey of a historic Italian company specializing in the production of ductile and austempered iron, strongly committed to material innovation and environmental sustainability.
  • Maurizio Bellotto (Opigeo S.r.l.), who introduced an innovative approach to valorising foundry and steelmaking slags, treating them as valuable resources rather than mere waste, thanks to their chemical and reactive properties.

The day concluded with the official kick-off of the STILLMETALEVO project, aimed at developing technologies for the recovery and reuse of spent foundry sands, with the goal of reshaping the future of foundries in a sustainable direction.

The event clearly demonstrated that the green transition is already underway, and that meaningful change comes from collaboration, expertise, and shared innovation.

A special thanks to all organizers, speakers, and participants for making this day a truly inspiring and enriching experience.
