Liquid Aluminium Metallurgy: Impurities and Treatments

The University of Padua – DTG, with the participation of SINFONET, is organising on 17 February 2026 the free technical and scientific seminar “Liquid Aluminium Metallurgy: Impurities and Treatments.”

The seminar will bring together international academic experts, researchers and industry professionals to examine some of the main challenges of modern aluminium production, including molten metal quality, process sustainability, impurity management and the valorisation of secondary alloys.
The event represents an in-depth opportunity to explore the most recent research and applications in the field of aluminium metallurgy.

The programme will address key topics such as:

• mechanisms of porosity formation and the synergistic role of hydrogen and bifilms;
• optimisation of salt fluxes for molten metal cleaning;
• the presence of iron-rich primary compounds in secondary alloys;
• metallurgical validation of raw materials.
