Target audience:
Energy Managers, technical and operational staff involved in energy efficiency projects, Facility Managers, CEOs, Sustainability Managers.
Objectives:
The course provides a 360° overview of energy efficiency in energy-intensive production sites, combining theory, regulations, and practical applications. It will cover:
- The regulatory and legislative framework;
- The importance of Power Quality and its impact on operational continuity;
- Hardware and software tools for monitoring and improving energy performance, supported by real-world examples and success stories.
Contents:
Introduction to Energy Management (15 min)
- Introduction to the concept of sustainability and energy efficiency.
- Context and background (future trends, NRRP, Industry 5.0, EPBD 4, energy costs, scarcity of energy resources, etc.).
- The virtuous cycle of energy efficiency (Monitor, Fix the fundamentals, Automate, Monitor and analyze).
The regulatory and legislative framework of energy efficiency (1.5 h)
- Introduction to standards and the key players involved: Sustainability Managers, Energy Managers, EGE, and ESCo.
- The European EPBD Directive, Legislative Decree 102/2014 and obligated parties, ISO 50001.
- Energy certification of buildings: Ministerial Decree 26/06/2015 and ISO UNI EN 52120.
- The Energy Efficiency Certificates (TEE) mechanism.
- Energy Audits (Types – Content – Benefits – Sample reports) and KPIs for energy management + OEE (ref. ENEA).
The path towards decarbonization (1 h)
- Regulatory framework (CSRD, CSDDD, Scope 1, 2, and 3).
- Decarbonization audits and baseline definition.
- Objectives and roadmap for emissions reduction.
- Case study: Schneider Electric production site in Stezzano (BG).
Power Quality: a key aspect of electricity (1 h)
- What Power Quality is.
- Why monitoring and optimizing it is crucial.
- Available solutions.
- Industrial case studies.
Technological solutions for the energy efficiency process (1 h)
- Hardware and software for industrial energy monitoring.
- Application examples and achieved benefits (focus on energy-intensive processes such as foundry and hot forging).
