Target audience:
Designers, engineers, managers, and professionals interested in sustainable design.
Objectives:
To introduce a method for selecting criteria for conscious material choices, based on Professor Ashby’s method, with reference to issues related to critical raw materials and Design for Environment (DfE). The course will cover concepts such as eco-design, lightweight design, and reducing risks associated with critical raw materials.

- Material selection procedure (50 min)
- Constraints and multiple objectives (50 min)
- Material-shape co-selection (50 min)
- Material selection for eco-design with reference to CRM (50 min)
Instructor:
Prof. Paolo Ferro, Associate Professor of Metallurgy and Materials Selection at the University of Padua. Graduated in Materials Engineering (110/110 cum laude), he obtained a PhD in Metallurgical Engineering from the same university.
